August 10th-14th

Yay, we made it here! It was a long day of travel, 2 flights with slight delays, but we made it into Glasgow only 30 mins late. We had a slight delay in immigration as they went through all of our paperwork to make sure we were allowed to be here.

We then picked up rental car and made our way to the Glasgow Marriott.
We had lunch then checked into our room to crash for a few hours. (after having been up for 24 hrs at that point)

After a much needed 3 1/2 hr nap we got up and walked down Buchanan St to Sauchiehall St taking in all the sights..

Of Course we had to get a picture of John with the Tardis

We ended up at an Irish Pub. (yes i know that's a bit ironic, but it was the quietest place we could find)

We got up Sunday morning and headed to Helensburgh

We have rented a self catering flat for the next 60 days until we find a place of our own.

Worlds smallest bathroom and shower!

After unpacking we decided to go for a walk and find some food. We found a new Tapas and Wine bar had come to the area since our last visit.
We had a fabulous meal and decided that this would be our new favorite place. A fabulous find on our first day here!

We then wandered some more to find the Sports pub that we went to on our last visit here.
All was quiet on a Sunday Afternoon.

Monday John had to go to work, and I continued to unpack, do laundry and get settled in.

We met with Bryan and Janice for dinner, of course they suggested La Barca, but since we just ate there the night before we went to the Commodore Hotel. We had a great evening and wish they were not leaving in a few weeks. (John took over Bryan's position here and they head back to Florida after 6 years)

Tuesday
Jimmy and Melonie Juel came into town visiting from Colorado. They had planned the trip to London, Paris and Belguim and decided to add a few days of visiting us in Scotland. The three of us did some walking around town while waiting for John to get off of work.

We had a great dinner at the Tapas place once again. It was wonderful. We all shared 8 different tapas and enjoyed them all! Yes, Our new favorite restaurant, indeed!

Wednesday
I had a much needed lazy day, uploading pics and working on this blog. Then John and I headed to the bank to set up our Scotland bank account. Afterwards we drove over to the next town, Balloch to check out the area. We then went to the grocery to browse and pick up a few items for dinner. We came back to the flat and prepared our first meal in our new homeland. What was for dinner you ask? Tacos of course! So for those of you taking notes, yes we have eaten Irish, Spanish and now Mexican foods this week. There will be plenty of time for black pudding, haggis, scotch eggs, baked beans, fish n chips, meat pies and puddings. It's just nice to know that we do have choices.

We hope that all of our family and friends are all doing well back in the States.

CHEERS!
John and CJ

    1. I haven't seen or heard of any deep fried mars bars.... but it doesn't surprise me, they do like to fry everything.
