Travels and Adventures with our First House Guest

January - February we had our first house guest, CJ's cousin Candy arrived mid January for a month long visit.

We spent the month shopping, pubbing, sightseeing and castle hunting.

Our month long adventure included :

A Whiskey tasting and hanging out with friends at the Ashton

A Train trip to Glasgow for a day of sightseeing and shopping
Iconic Duke of Wellington Statue
with its traffic cone

Capping the statue with a traffic cone has become a traditional practice in the city, claimed to represent the humor of the local population and believed to date back to the first half of the 1980's

Walks around Helensburgh
and some local Scottish Pub entertainment

A weekend road trip to Blackpool, England

(We found snow on the way home!)

A day of Castle Hunting

 Balloch Castle Country Park

 Buchanan Castle Ruin

Stirling Castle

The National Wallace Monument
The National Wallace Monument is a tower standing on the summit of Abbey Craig, a hilltop near Stirling in Scotland. It commemorates Sir William Wallace, the 13th century Scottish hero.

A Train Trip to Edinburgh

Edinburgh Castle

(And if we ever lost Candy we could always find her sitting on the nearest bench.)

After a day of sightseeing we met up with a "Friend of a Friend" from the States, attending University in Edinburgh for a semester.

Its was great meeting Beth and her friend, Lilly.  We enjoyed comparing notes on our Scotland adventures over a few pints, and look forward to catching up with them again.

Well, our month long adventure with our first house guest has come to an end and Candy is back safe in sunny Florida.  We are looking forward to a few more adventures in the next few months before our next house guests (The Bryns) arrive in May.
Sending much Love to all of our Family and Friends!
Cheers!
